( The last thing Megumi remembers before he'd been dragged into unconsciousness is getting dressed after a shower, Itadori asking him... Something. Then the ground hard and cool beneath him.
There's no dreams to welcome him in the darkness, but what pulls him from it isn't his alarm or someone's voice. It's the sudden, sharp pain in his gums that he can't explain, something that earns a soft, aggravated sound from him as his eyelashes flutter and he puts a hand over his head. He curls in on himself slowly, another sound of discomfort leaving him, and it's only as his body slides smoothly across the sheets of the hotel bed that he realizes someone has moved him from where he'd hit the ground to the bed. Yuji, he's assuming.
Just the thought of the other teen's name makes him sharply aware of how strongly his scent fills their shared room. It soothes that pain just the slightest in his mouth, but what comes in it's place is a a rush of wetness, a yearning to be close to the source of the lingering scent. This has to be a weird dream, he muses, something bordering on a nightmare that's woken him even before the sun has started to rise. )
Itadori. ( He calls out thoughtlessly, as if somehow Yuji will help him figure out if he's dreaming. )

[ There's been a sweet scent lingering for the past few minutes, and it's been bothering Megumi for a while - drawing his attention in ways that's far from normal. As a young man who's recently flourished as an alpha (Oh, wouldn't the Zenin clan be proud? Too bad he doesn't care to join them.), he's always been astute in his senses, one ear pricked and one eye open for anything that could pose a threat to his 'pack'. Nobara was naturally weaker than them both, but she was a headstrong personality who was alpha as well, so she doesn't trigger that same anxiety and protective streak when he's around her. Yuji, though ... Megumi's anxiety and frustration seems to peak when he's around this other boy, even if he loves spending time with him. It's a mix of a lot of different factors. The other boy was strong - stronger than him, in fact - but he was an omega of particularly sweet scent, and so, so kind of naive, and they also had a history. Yuji's died once before when Megumi allowed himself to let his eyes off of him. Now, whenever he cannot account for the other boy's whereabouts, he gets nervous and starts to worry. Some might call this phenomenon separation anxiety, even if it's more commonly seen in animals.
That's only ramping up today. What is that sweet scent? They were only supposed to run some errands together today, but Megumi finds himself so fidgety for no reason, so hyperaware of their surroundings and who might be in it. Curses, potential danger, other alphas ... It's bothering him so much, even if the scent of the other boy was alluring in many different ways. Like sweet, cotton candy, and not in the way that makes him feel nauseated. Like a warm hug and a safe place to rest his head. He can't take it anymore.
Yuji's saying something, but Megumi isn't paying attention. Instead, he grabs the other boy by their collar, pulling him closer to force his attention. ]
Hey. If you're doing that on purpose, stop it. [ That sounds silly, after he blurts it out. How could Yuji be letting out that scent willingly? ]

[ Yuji is strange. He had appeared one day, with little explanation of where he came from or why he's here but an intense amount of cursed energy regardless. Then soon after he joined them as another student, in the same year as Nanami and started accompanying him on missions. Nanami wasn't too fond of this, the sting of losing Haibara still too raw but he would keep things professional and treat Yuji like a colleague, he decided.
Of course that was difficult because Yuji had this terrible habit of calling him Nanamin and staring too long at him, which made Nanami feel like his skin was too tight across his body. So he treated Yuji even colder in response. He didn't mean to, he just... couldn't exactly handle the closeness.
(What if he lost him, after all? Just like he lost Haibara. He couldn't take it, he couldn't do it again.)
But Yuji had secrets and those secrets made things leak out at times. Like tonight, when Nanami found himself woken up with a start because of a scream he heard from the room nearby and knew immediately it was Yuji. His fingers twisted in his sheets when he heard the sobs that followed and he just — he didn't know what to do. How was he supposed to go back to bed like this? Eventually the sobs subsided and he heard Yuji leave his room, probably heading to the kitchen.
Nanami debated himself for a long time before he ended up finding his way out of his room and to the kitchen as well, stepping in quietly and immediately being noticed by Yuji. He shifted awkwardly in his pajamas, not having intended to talk about what just happened but unable to hide that he heard it in the first place.
A little stilted: ]
It's... fine. [ . . . ] Are you okay?

[ Tumbling on the bed with his lover was hardly on the agenda for tonight. Megumi was only planning to take care of him, his usual anxieties spiking from the knowledge that there was a curse strong enough to actually make Yuji sick. Wasn't the boy supposed to be resistant to poisons? Thankfully, Shoko had reassured them both that Yuji's body had already fought off the part of the poison that actually posed a threat to his life. What remained were some residual symptoms that were annoying but ultimately would not harm him. So far, the main symptoms seems to be a fever, but Shoko had told him to watch out for some other unpredictable symptoms as well, so Megumi was doing just that.
At least, that was the plan. Then, he made the mistake of crawling into bed with his lover to soothe him further, and one thing led to another. There's really only so much self-control he can maintain when faced with a flushed, needy and desperate Yuji, begging to be touched and ready to please him in however way he wanted. Well, he was always this way, but there was something needier about him today, and his body heat was so warm, just being near him felt like hugging a heater. It wasn't difficult for Megumi to get stirred up. He's still a young man, after all, and something about this boy always seems to make him equal parts frustrated and devoted and ravenous. ]
Sick people should be resting. [ He says that, always trying to sound like he doesn't want to be here, but his actions don't match up to the words. Hovering over the other boy like this, he parts his thighs wider, hiking one over his shoulder as he crouches over the other boy. His long fingers do not relent, two thrusting up into the other boy's hole and scissoring him open. pressing up against where he knows the good spots are. This body feels like an inferno. Just thinking about how his cock would feel in it is stirring him up, his throat going dry and his pants feeling tighter.
Not yet. ] If you can take one more without tearing up, I'll consider speeding things up.
[ With that, he pushes a third in, the pace of his thrusting quickening. ]

[ when higuruma had proposed the idea of yuji moving in with him, he was aware of the potential preparations he'd need to do before he could actually move in. higuruma lived alone and was often not there—to say it was clean would be a nicer way of saying that it's just empty. so in an effort to make it feel at least a little more lived in, he'd set aside a day for shopping, wanting yuji to be able to come back to a home at the end of his day.
he just didn't account for yuji to find out about it and tag along. though in hindsight, he probably should have. ]
We'll need to get some towels... new sheets, too.

[ after the fourth bride-to-be runs away after only three days, the young master is fed up with the whole process and hands it over to his trusted majordomo despite Nanami's calm (always calm for the young master has a bad temper) admonishments that it is improper. the husband to be has to spend time with the fiancee in order to determine whether or not it will be a good match.
another war comes to the young master's rescue - how convenient, the majordomo comments wryly - which means the young master and Yuji-sama only meet on the day of Yuji-sama's arrival. it goes as well as expected, which is to say not at all. the young master shows no interest except for giving his usual speech of 'If I tell you to leave, you leave. If I telly you to die, you die.' Nanami would hit him over the head with a log if he could.
there is a betting pool that the young master will die unmarried and heirless. Nanami can't really bring himself to put an end to that nonsense, seeing how only the prestige of the name still draws marriage offers at all. perhaps the young master will experience something profound on the battlefield. it's been three months already and he hasn't written a single letter to Yuji-sama. what a despicable boy the old master has raised.
in the meantime, Nanami does what he can to make Yuji feel welcome at the estate which is a lot easier without the young master around unsurprisingly. he makes sure Yuji eats, has begun teaching the young man calligraphy, shown him the small and big treasures of the extensive library, and takes him along when he has to go into town to run errands.
he is but a poor substitute, he is aware of that. and he writes the young master letters about Yuji, how well he is adjusting, how bright and charming he is. the young master should hurry home before he loses yet another prospect. in the absence of any alternative, Nanami continues to keep Yuji entertained whenever his schedule allows.
he finds the young man in the garden, in the snow, without a sensible overcoat or shoes! an alarmed 'Yuji-sama' rings across the yard, and a moment later, Nanami is rushing towards the young man with a coat and shoes in his hands. ]
Yuji-sama, you will catch a cold. Please put these on or better yet, come back inside.

[ every year like clockwork, an invitation to Gojo Satoru's lavish contribution to the charity season arrives with a handwritten note from the gracious host himself containing his usual inane ramblings about everything and nothing at all. Nanami has limited time and patience for these kind of events. normally he'll have his assistant make a donation in his name and send a card in lieu of making an appearance. but Gojo is his oldest friend (as that insufferable potato-man never tires of reminding him), and this year Megumi has inquired about his attendance as well, because the young man has been roped into co-hosting.
from the outside it may seem whimsical of Gojo, but as always it's a calculated move to show the world that there is an heir apparent to the Gojo fortune, and that everyone may stop throwing all their single reproductive organ owners at him. Nanami attends without a plus one. having gone through that farce during the first couple of years and ending up with idiotic drama every time, he prefers to show up solo and leave solo again as well.
Megumi finds him in the garden, engaged in airy-light conversation with a group of elderly ladies and gentlemen. there isn't enough time to exchange more than a couple of pleasantries and be introduced to his pink-haired friend. Nanami doesn't really catch the name before the two young men rush off again.
it isn't until later in the evening that Nanami comes across Megumi's friend again, sitting outside by himself, away from the rowdy crowd. ]
Catching some fresh air or hiding from the wild bunch?

[ after Gojo's party, life continues in its hectic, demanding, sometimes even chaotic manner. Nanami stays on top as always, moving forward being the only way he knows works best, and is momentarily blindsided when he's greeted by name at a random coffee shop by a cheerful, young face.
lacking a name to match, he opts for 'oh, you're Fushiguro's pretty friend' - forgive the sleep-deprived and undercaffeinated brain. he's been busy, you see? there's no time to exchange more than brief pleasantries, but once he's back at the office, he finds a row of smudged numbers next to his name on the cup. that boy thinks hes so clever, doesn't he?
the next day he rings up the shop and asks for Yuji by name (memory refreshed courtesy to Gojo). ]

Hello Itadori-san~
It's Nanami.
I don't know if you remember me but you lent me your jacket last week when I was caught in the rain and gave me your number too.
Just in case, you said.
I was wondering if you'd like to meet up with me?
I'd like to thank you for your help with a meal if you're not too busy. 🤭

[ higuruma had taken the day off in preparation of this day, which is a feat in itself given his caseload, but he'd made it work. it was likely shimizu who had volunteered to cover, mostly out of surprise that he actually did it at all in the first place, but it's not as if he's in any position to complain. this is yuji's first birthday since moving in with higuruma, after all. he felt he should at least try to make it special.
he normally isn't one for sentimentality, but yuji had changed him since they'd met; little things here and there that higuruma hadn't noticed until much later. he didn't think he still had the capacity to change at all, but yuji has a knack for achieving the impossible.
higuruma wakes up at eight, about a whole hour later than he usually would for work despite his efforts to sleep in. they hadn't made plans yet, but he figures he'd let yuji decide what he wants to do, getting started on making some coffee in an attempt to wake himself up further. ]

[ offering the phone number had been a bold move even if it didn't go exactly as planned. but it wasn't just the boldness that caught his interest; the chat he had with Fushiguro's pretty friend had been unexpected and refreshing at Gojo's party. things like that stay on the mind. perhaps not consciously but Itadori had clearly made an impression.
so, yes. he's looking forward to seeing the 'flirt machine' in the flesh.
is it a date? yes, he'd say, it is a date. the exact nature of it has yet to be determined. while Itadori Yuji doesn't strike him as the pragmatic and calculating type, Nanami wouldn't hold it against him if there were an angle to this. it'd be common sense.

So am I. Let's head inside.

This isn't the place I had in mind originally but it's not bad. They only serve set menus, though. I hope that's alright with you.
