[ Megumi can feel Yuji slowly starting to unwind, tension and pain trickling away – not gone, because Megumi knows that won't evaporate anytime soon, but at least Yuji can breathe.
Gently nosing at Yuji's temple, Megumi nods. ]
Whatever you need.
[ And maybe Megumi doesn't have direct control over that, but he's confident Gojo feels the same. ]
[ A quiet part of him is desperate to return to Suguru now, to sink into his dominant's arms and find security in the weight of him and the smell of him, but he doesn't want to leave the comfort of Megumi, either. This feels safe, and he knows, he's alright here, with his best friend to make sure he's fine.
Megumi won't let anything happen to him, just like Suguru won't, and Gojo-san won't. He knows it, as well as he knows how to breathe. ]
I... I don't even want to go outside anymore. I'm afraid.
[ Megumi nearly startles himself with how keenly he feels an ache of sympathy for Yuji in his chest; it hurts his heart to hear his friend so scared. ]
... I would be, too.
[ A soft admission, the tiniest of reassurance that Megumi doesn't think Yuji is being dramatic or unreasonable. This would terrify Megumi, and the most he had to endure was the Zenin clan's bullshit around positioning him as a commodity for bargaining.
[ Megumi’s empathy should help more than it does, but Yuji appreciates it all the same. His best friend is trying, and right now he’s safe, he’s cherished, and nothing can hurt him. Mahito can’t get in here, Suguru is just in the next room and he’ll be okay.
He had to be okay.
His stomach still twists into knots, and he bites his lip, eyes squeezing closed again. ]
I wish I could just forget it all. Make it go away.
[ He just doesn’t know how to do that. Not alone, at least. ]
[ Megumi has no experience with this, not really. So much of the shadowy storm clouds of his own thoughts spring from rumination and internal voices, the prolonged and looming figure of the Zenin clan that he was sold into early. But he got lucky with Gojo. The first dominant in Megumi's life after his training, who welcomed him in with antagonizing-if-accepting arms. They went at Megumi's pace, and he's never once questioned his own safety in Satoru's hands. His limits were respected, pushed only when mutually agreed, and he could wholeheartedly trust that Satoru would take care of him.
The idea of Yuji enduring anything less is unforgivable – because if Megumi deserved that kindness, Yuji did one hundred fold for the goodness in his heart. ]
[ Yuji is only now adjusting to how it feels to be comforted and taken care of. Mahito had been his dominant for a handful of years, and in that time he can’t ever remember a time he was comforted, when his dominant made sure he was alright. It’s enough that he understands now just how abusive it was, but at the time… he didn’t know any different.
Suguru would never do that to him.
Breathing out, he curls into Megumi more, eyes closing tight as his hands shake.]
[ The embrace feels soothing, settling, an anchor as Yuji tries to settle and calm down. It does help, like having a weighted blanket wrapped around his shoulders, easing some of his shivering, and he turns his head to sniffle into Megumi.
He really is safe here, isn’t he?
Slowly, he forces his mouth to make words. ]
You’re… Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do without you.
[ It's a bit startling when Yuji reacts so keenly, but Megumi just nods, arms squeezing Yuji back. He doesn't think this is something that warrants thanks, but he'll accept it nonetheless. ]
You're not going to be alone again, okay? [ Yuji doesn't have to bear this horror on his own anymore. ]
[ How long had he been alone without realising it before Suguru had taken him in? Just him, with Mahito to control and manipulate him, demanding things from him, and it hurts. It hurts to think about how sad he had been without realising it, without having an understanding of how happy he could be.
He has that happiness, now. Megumi and Suguru and Gojo had done that for him. ]
[ Resting his chin on top of Yuji's head, Megumi slowly combs his fingers through the other submissive's hair, his arms still adamantly cradling Yuji close. ]
Take all the time you want. I'm not going anywhere.
