If Yuji had grown more distant from what had happened, it would upset him a little.
Megumi lifts the sheets casually, allowing the other boy to slide beneath them with him. ] Yeah. The story seems pretty typical of a manga series, but it looks like something you'd like.
[ It's close to his bed time and he's all tucked in. Yuji can do as he pleases, but if the other boy wants to sleep over, Megumi won't mind. ]
[ Yuji can't fathom distancing himself from Megumi - he might not have investigated his own feelings too deeply (the devotion, the need to be near Megumi, to protect him, risking and offering his life for his) - but he knows that losing this boy would break him in a way he can't explain. Now, he opens up the book. It's not very thick, and there is artwork on the cover in the style of anime. This isn't something Megumi would read on his own, but he knows the other boy well enough to know what would be a good gateway book into the reading hobby.
The book itself is this dimension's version of a popular ninja series back home. This particular light novel is focused on the deuteragonist's older brother who seems to have a complicated relationship with him. ]

[ Wiggling close, settling down by Megumi, he hums softly, eyes settling closed as he lets himself relax.
It's hard, trying to find a way to let himself relax, to let some of the tension and fear and darkness dissipate enough that he can find that level of peace and comfort - but Megumi helps. He always helps.
Slowly, he wiggles close, letting his arm rest over Megumi as he sighs softly. ]
He probably had a good reason. We'll have to keep reading to find out.

He'll tell him the story of Nitachi, who overheard his clan's plans to start a war that would lead to the deaths of half the country. That's what led him to kill everyone in that clan except his little brother. ]
"He knew his little brother would hate him for the rest of his life, but he just couldn't do it ... The bond they had was too special."
[ Yuji hums, letting himself lean into Megumi and nuzzle into the shape of his leg. He's so warm...
Yuji is safe here. With Megumi beside him, also safe, he can let himself be happy, content, let himself be filled with that sense of safety and comfort that comes from knowing that the person he cares for most in the world is alright.
If anything happens, Yuji can protect him.
Hand wrapping over Megumi's legs as he makes himself more comfortable, Yuji lets himself... Be. ]
[ The other boy is curling around him very much like a sleeping cat, and he can't help but find it cute once he's made the comparison. A large, pink tabby cat. Then again, his family name does mean 'tiger'. He continues to stroke through the other boy's hair, soothing him into further relaxation. Will they get the chance to have quiet time like this when they return home? Will they get to feel safe? Will they get to stay together? Probably not, and that's why moments like these need to be cherished. ]
Choso would probably do the same for you. [ Kill ... a bunch of people. He can totally see it. They aren't brothers, but if Megumi had to dirty his hands to save the other boy, he would do the same without any hesitation as well. ]
I wouldn't want him to do something like that. [ The idea of Choso killing a bunch of people to save him, or protect him, or whatever... Yeah, he doesn't want that.
Yuji shakes his head, eyes closed. ]
I want him to be happy, not having to fight or anything. I feel like this story isn't going to have that kind of happy ending.
Probably not. [ Megumi doesn't read fiction very much but even he knows that nobody wants to read a story about everything going right and everybody getting what they want. Their lives back home might make a good story - or one that is too miserable with little hope of getting any better. ]
